Finding Myself.
It has been a super long time since I posted. Needless to say, things have been super crazy for us with the new baby, the move, and a new semester. I am getting more and more tired and I can't take much more of feeling like this. I have decided that part of my problem is that I leave no time for myself. I will concede that there may be more than just my lack of personal time like hormone and vitamin imbalances, allowing myself to stay up too late, and even expecting too much of myself inevitably getting burnt out.
I have decided against making a ridged structure, with kids it is nearly if not totally impossible to do one. Right now I am trying to have enough structure to not feel so stressed myself from the disorder but not so much that I drive Zach and the boys crazy. I am also trying to have some me time, whatever that means, and some time with Zach. So here are some goals that I am trying to do to help me have more balance in life:

I am also trying to have some me time, whatever that means, and some time with Zach. So here are some goals that I am trying to do to help me have more balance in life:
DAILY
-Get up at the same time every morning probably 6:30.
-Go to bed with enough time to have at least 8 hours of sleep.
-Meal plan and make double to freeze.
-Say regular morning and night prayers.
-Read some Come Follow Me scripture.
-Read some from the Ensign everyday.
-Do RYC with Mom.
-No sugar.
-Lots of water.

That is a fair amount of things to improve on. Do you write them down or are you the type that can keep it all up in your head? I don't like rigid schedules myself. It is appealing from the outside but once I try I get depressed. I've found the best way for me is to have my daily list in order of the most important and then have anything that has to be done by a certain time on a separate schedule. Then I work on the daily list as it fits into my schedule. That way when I get to the end of the day the most important things get done. Sometimes I have to bump up something that has been on the list too long and just say I will do this and nothing else until it's done. Then also sometimes I have to put me time up higher on the priority list, or even turn some of my daily stuff into me time, like extra scripture study or take my time in the shower.
ReplyDeleteI definitely need to write them down, if I don't I feel like a failure because I forgot stuff. I am getting better about giving myself some grace and saying it's okay that I wasn't perfect today. I need to work on the me time though. I tend to say "I can do that when I am dead"(referring to self care) when others don't have there needs and wants met. I have gotten better at turning that off for people who are not family, but it is out of control with my kids and husband. I just need a better balance.
DeleteThese seem like good goals! How is it going?
ReplyDeleteI will make a post about it.
DeleteThese are great goals! One thing that came to mind when reading this is that I would want to remember (or you to remember) to not look at it as a whole. As Amber said, having a daily list is great! I do the same thing - write down the things (even the super small ones) down and put a check box next to it. It is definitely rewarding to see each thing get checked off. Even if it's just folding laundry or putting away the dishes. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I am learning to do that. I have found that when I decide to do something and can't finish it, I get really angry and frustrated, but I am learning to separate things and to be okay with 5 minutes on one thing and 5 on another. Sometimes things are so busy that that is all I can do. I am trying not to beat myself up for not completing anything unless I really feel like I was super lazy and just didn't even try.
