Addy - First Post(finally)
March 13, 2021
I finally remembered make a post! And I want to make it a weekly thing. I've been reading all of your posts and I love hearing about your goals and what's going on in your lives!
I've been in a little bit of a slump. Life can start to feel a little monotonous at times, but mine and Alyse's trip to Seattle helped and I'm ready to set some new goals! I just started listening to a book called "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. It's about how small 1% improvements to your habits bring massive results. I just started it but I am loving it so far. I've also just started working out again. I do a 30 min workout called Bodycombat. It teaches you how to punch and kick and turns it into a workout, it's the only workout I've ever actually enjoyed! I'm also working on decorating my room and I'm enjoying making it my own space. I haven't been back to school since 2019 and I miss learning so I'm going to pick something I'm interested in and dedicate some time a few days a week to learning about that thing. I'm really interested in different cultures so I'm going to spend every week or two on a different country's culture.
Having other people to be accountable to is so helpful so here are some of the areas of my life I would like to improve on.
Spiritual ~ Scripture study at 6:30pm on work days, 9am all other days. I have to have a set time otherwise it won't happen! Make it to Institute on Thursday.
Health ~ Hike with Tycho at least once a week. Do my bodycombat workout 3 days a week. Yoga the other 4. Stretch every morning and night. Limit amount of sugar I'm eating. A couple months ago I lost some weight, my skin was super clear and just felt great, and all I did was limit myself to one dessert a week and drink a lot of water. I'm going to start doing that again because I definitely have a sweet tooth and eat more sugar than I should.
Educational ~ Read or listen to a good book before bed. Spend at least 30 minutes of study to a different country's culture.
Addy! Welcome :) It's so nice to hear about you and what you want to do. These are great goals and I am rooting for you! I'll have to look into the book, that sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Aimee! You should definitely look into the book, it makes me look at things in a whole other way!
DeleteYay Addy! I've been wondering when I'd see you. This looks like a really good start. I especially like the idea of the 1% improvement, I feel like that is the rate I'm improving by. I've been frustrated by it because I want to do it faster so maybe I should look at that book too and I'll be more happy with my tiny improvements. Wait I thought we've done some fun workouts, what about bollywood dancing and all those years of jedi training?
ReplyDeleteYou should definitely look into the book, it talks a lot about focusing on the trajectory of your path and less on your immediate results. Haha! Those were a great workout, but I wasn't really doing them for the workout more for the fun :)
