Amber - A new week

I love a new week, it is so exciting on Monday to start over and have a whole week to progress.  I have decided I need to do one of my one time things per day or at least work on one of them every day before I get to play.  I have been able to tick a few things off from my goals last week.  Here is the updated goal list below.

One time things.
  • Write up my call list
  • Make a sign to put on my door for electronic-free space
  • Make signs of my goals to put on my goal board
  • Make signs of affirmations and put up
  • Make a plan of what extra things I'm going to study
  • Make a plan of how I want to practice doing my daily goals
Daily goals
  • Keep my room electronic-free
  • Do service when I'm lonely
  • Memorize when I drift off into an imaginary world
  • Call someone when I feel tempted
  • Repent each night
Monday:

* While reading the first of section 20 I noticed a lot of God being unchangeable an endless and his laws never changing.  I've always taken comfort in this knowing I can rely on what he says.  But yesterday we had a 9 year old give a talk about this very thing.  He said wouldn't it be terrible if the roads changed every day.  If the school wasn't where it was supposed to be and yesterday's path was obsolete today.  How would you ever get to school and then how would you get home?  If the path to get to our heavenly home changed then you couldn't trust God.  I am grateful that we do know the path and the truth, that it is the same always and that we just need to walk along it and eventually we will be there.  Many are confused, there are thousands of religions in the world (over 4,000) and all of them are slightly different, I would be totally lost if I didn't have a testimony that this is God's church and we have the truth from him and not from someone else's guess, interpretation, belief, or experience.  It is his way and his church and he doesn't change.
  • the ink came today!  So I'm printing out my signs, yipee!  Which I have now done, though I printed on the wrong paper for one and will be fixing that one soon.
Tuesday:

* I read the rest of section 20 today.  It is mostly about the priesthood but I didn't find anything so profound today.  When I get myself up from the couch to go get my scriptures I'll tell you all about it.  Even more jello salad isn't moving me right now so we'll see if I get that done tonight or not.
  • I cut out my signs but was so busy today that I wore myself out majorly.  I've gotten so that I can do a lot more than a year ago.  2019 I got sick and exhausted, vacuuming a couple rooms could wipe me out for a few hours.  Today I went shopping and did a couple hours speed cooking (seriously I don't think I've ever cooked so fast) and then did all the dishes before I was out.  I call that a definite improvement!  So my token effort for today was cutting out those signs.
  • I also managed to rearrange my room.
Wednesday:

* Elder Oaks gave a a talk in 2014 about the priesthood.  At the very beginning he said that in the church you don't go up or step down.  When you have a leadership position it isn't a step up for you but only a step forward and a new calling with less responsibilities is also a step forward not a step down.  Each task we set out to do can help us grow in a new way.
  • I pushed too hard combined with too much sugar for the last few days and now today I feeling sick.  Thus I rested most of the day and didn't progress on any goals.
Thursday:

*  It is raining today and I read section 21.  Verse 6 says by receiving the words of a prophet as if from God and doing so with patience and faith then not only will you overcome the power of the devil but also the heavens will shake for your good.  It was a funny phrase that I've never noticed particularly (a consequence of having been a member all of my life).  It made me think of the rain and how it waters the earth and we can use a lot of it here in delta.  I'm curious what any of you think it means when the heaven shakes for your good.  What does the shaking mean?  I haven't read the references yet but I guess I better do that.
  • I must be sick because I'm exhausted today.  I'm taking better care of myself and not eating any sugar and less starch.  So in case you didn't guess I didn't do any work on my goals today.
Friday:

* Read a talk by elder Oaks called "Be of Good Cheer".  My favorite part came at the end where he quoted D&C.  "Be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work.  And out of small things proceedeth that which is great"  I often get tired of the mundane and day to day.  I clean the bathroom, it took a lot of energy to do it well, then not long and it needs it again.  As if I didn't do it at all.  Same goes for my goals, sometimes I think I'm not getting anywhere.  However, these are all good things and eventually I am told I will reap the rewards of my efforts.  Becoming like God is a great work but so are many of the things we are trying to accomplish, they just don't seem like it because they are small things to start with but they grow into great things as we continue and don't weary.
  • I love my room now, it feels much better.  However, I am still feeling a bit sick so nothing new on the goals.
Saturday:

* I did read today but haven't blogged for a couple of days and can't remember what I learned today.
  • My body feels so much better today than it had been feeling, though I got some new cookbooks and I want to make everything in them and I can't have any right now.
Sunday:

* I didn't read today, I was actually quite busy all day.
  • I also feel a lot worse today, I had a headache that wouldn't go away even on a strong dose of painkiller.  Eventually it did and Mom and Chad are visiting.  No new stuff on my goals.

  1. That is such a profound and amazing thing to think about! It really is wonderful that God and His ways are unchangeable forever. I also love that you make a note to repent each night! I'm going to be doing some thinking now, because my days are so repetitive I feel that I would just repent of not working out, or saying something in a nicer way, haha.

    1. I've been doing the repent every day thing on and off for a few years and it has really helped me make the atonement more real in my life. It also keeps me focused on what really matters instead of the worldly stuff.

    1. Thank you, you can find that kind of thing every day, right here on my weekly blog. Sponsored by my past and future experiences with a special thank you to my scriptures and come follow me without which I would be reading a lot more conference talks to get enough material for these posts.

    2. p.s. I'm sitting here late at night with a bowl of strawberry jello salad and not enough sleep and I find myself in a very weird mood so please take the above response in that light.

    1. Yes I know it was surprising and more thoughtful than his older brother's talk.
