Amber - One Goal
Hi people I am only doing one thing this week. I am going to bed by 10 pm every night. Though I am also going on the family reunion at the weekend so I will see how that works. This means I only have one goal to worry about, though to be honest I'm going to be doing a few things along with that. First I have my alarms, then I'm still keeping track of the rise and bed times (though not trying to get up at a certain time, just tracking it), I will also be doing some energy work specifically on my bed time, and last I will do a little bit of a routine at my alarm time in order to get myself focused on sleep and make it easier to fall asleep.
Goals:
- Alarm at 9:00- wrap it up and go get ready for bed.
- Alarm at 9:30- time to put it down now and go do the routine.
- Routine includes electronic free time, cleaning up last minute things, saying a prayer, getting dressed, washing my face, and either mediating or yoga or something really relaxing.
- Bed at 10 pm

Monday:
* I'm still feeling sick and today I'm absolutely exhausted and just want to go to sleep. This has made it rather difficult and though I've read my scriptures twice today I am just not connecting to any of the words I'm reading so I am going to not share anything for today.
- No crafting today though I guess I did a bunch of research for my dress form pattern.
- I reacted slowly to my alarm but I did manage to leave the computer and the phone for the night and I got into bed nearly on time. Unfortunately my body is not used to the earlier hour and I couldn't fall asleep for an hour or so. All the same I woke up rather early.
Tuesday:
* Today I pull a thought from "Infuriating Unfairness" by Elder Renlund. He says that to us there are many unfair things in this life, some are actually just because they are of equal opportunity and because of the choices we make. In addition some things are just because of situations and the needs that arise. However, there are many times that we can find no explanation and many wonder how there can be so many bad things and still be a loving Heavenly Father. I think one of the keys to this is a little section that Elder Renlund barely mentions. " God can bless us in simple, ordinary, and significant ways. As we learn to recognize these blessings, our trust in God will increase." Things are unfair when we don't see with the spiritual eyes. We have so many blessings that we can't see them all, they surround us. If we can learn to spend our time looking for them and focus on the good we receive then we won't have time to spend on the unfair things in our lives. One day we will know the reason for them and see why it was necessary but until then we will be so full of joy due to our blessings that we will find our burdens lifted and our lives filled with joy.
- Yep that's right 2 am. I went to bed but didn't want to stop watching downton abbey. I only had 30 more mins and then I wanted to play so I was up way too late.
Wednesday:
* At the beginning of section 68 it says that his servants shall speak as moved upon by the Holy Ghost. When they do so the things they say are scripture and are the will of the Lord as well as his word, mind, voice, and power. I am not ordained exactly the same way as these men were but nonetheless I am applying it to me. The revelation any receive through the Holy Ghost is for that person scripture, it also tells them what the Lord is wanting for them at this time in their life and he wills that they follow it. It is the word of God directly to them as if they were hearing it directly from his voice. In addition to that it is backed by his power, meaning that individual will have the assistance of the most powerful being in the universe. He will clear the way to make it possible, will offer the strength or other tools needed to succeed, and will offer mercy when it doesn't happen the first time. The only thing we need to have this kind of revelation is to have the Holy Ghost with us. I guess that is more than one thing for this does mean we need to strive to keep ourselves worthy and use the atonement of Christ when we fall short. Also we need to be listening and have an environment where we can hear and then we will have to follow the things we receive. All the same it is possible because even in this we aren't alone and we can always repent when we make a mistake.
- I am failing again, this time I went to bed earlier but have got out of the habit of my electronic-free room. I best evict my phone again.
Thursday:
* The end of section 69 talks about being idle. I feel I have been too idle lately. I'm not making myself do things and have just been doing the minimum in most things except scripture study and lesser amounts in other things. The Lord says of idlers that he remembers them and is not well pleased. He also says that their children grow up in wickedness, they don't seek eternity, and their are full of greed. This is definitely not how I want to be.
- I am quite tired today but I feel much better about my day, I worked slow and was behind but I was working consistently and not having much idle time.
- Good day and I couldn't get to sleep tonight, in fact at about 1 am I got really hungry and since I couldn't sleep I got up and ate some cereal. After that I went straight to sleep.
Friday:
* Today's thought is that things are better with someone than alone. I generally prefer to be alone when I do things and that works very well but I also find that when I do include someone it is successful in ways that it wouldn't have been alone. Section 69:1 says that Oliver Cowdery should not carry documents and money of the church unless he brings someone who is true and faithful. In matters of danger we generally find comfort with another person, however I don't think we view spiritual danger in the same way. For some reason we think it is something we ought to do alone. Through my years I've learned that this is much slower and less successful but when you involve people to support you then it becomes easier and in some cases I would say it is safer.
I missed the rest of the week because I was at the reunion.
I love your thoughts, especially Tuesday's. I get frustrated when people think life isn't fair. Although I understand because I've felt that unfairness many times, the whole purpose of life would be gone if it were fair. It wouldn't be a proper test for our use of agency and we wouldn't be fit to return to God's presence with the unfair situations we find ourselves in in this life. Life was meant to be unfair to see if we will follow Him in all things. I don't think there's anything in life that is fair to everyone.
