I did quite terrible last week on my goal.  Though I will confess I did really well on my smaller goals.  Including getting back to the temple.  I am going this week so I am very excited!  I recently finished a short course of energy healing on my body and I left with a new understanding, appreciation, respect, and love for my body.  I have known for a long time that my body needed less sugar and some sort of exercise but kept repeating the same old patterns because they are habits and those are hard to change.  This time through the course I again felt I needed to do those two things but I also realized that I will always be constantly sick until I do those two things.  I have decided that my body doesn't deserve the way I've been treating it, it is doing it's best and I've been sabotaging it at every turn, so now I wish to work in partnership with it.  This knowledge, along with all the energy work I did on this issue, has allowed me to let go of a lot of the sugar I've been eating.  I've had comparatively little this week, even only eating ice cream twice.  I still need to add exercise but I will keep poking at those two things as I have time/energy until I can get my sleeping down, it is still the priority.  This also has the happy side effect that I am more determined to get this down.  Also I am using Grandma, she is more awake in the morning and if I can get my morning things done earlier then we can do more together.

Goals:

  • Planning meeting with God as soon as I am dressed and awake
  • Alarm at 9:00- wrap it up and go get ready for bed.
  • Alarm at 9:30- time to put it down now and go do my report meeting, afterwards do my routine.
  • Routine includes electronic free time, cleaning up last minute things, getting dressed, washing my face, and either mediating or yoga or something really relaxing.
  • Bed at 10 pm

Monday:

* My thought is short and found in section 85.  In this section the Lord talks about those who will consecrate their property and those that won't.  Those that do have their names written down in the book of remembrance.  Those that don't won't have their names anywhere, shall be cut off, and shall be counted among the unbelievers.  It is so important to do the things the Lord asks, not perfectly and alone, but to keep trying to do it.  It is a measure of your belief and faith.  Even if your works are riddled with mistakes, the fact that you are doing good works is enough that ensure your inheritance.  Sitting by and not making any attempt to do the things the Lord asked you to do, for whatever reason, is enough to put you among the unbelievers.

Tuesday:

* Today is about the Spirit.  I am fairly confident in getting answers to questions.  In fact I think I might even take it for granted, I usually get an answer instantly and I probably need to express more gratitude for that because I hear that is not everyone's experience.   What I'm not good at is hearing the spirit when I'm not directly asking a question or purposefully involved in a spiritual experience.  I don't give time or place for that to happen, my prayers are meh and too one-sided, not much of a conversation there.  I also almost never take time to ponder or notice my blessings, and rarely pause from my current task to think of anyone not involved in what I'm doing.  I'm very one track and it is difficult to put my attention elsewhere.  I am sure I've missed many opportunities and ignored far too many promptings.  Section 11 says "I will impart unto you of my Spirit, which shall enlighten your mind, which shall fill your soul with joy."  I have had this happen a lot without acknowledging or even sometimes without recognizing that that is the Spirit's influence.  I love the description of light, when you learn new things that broaden and uplift your mind and increase your understanding are from the Spirit.  It is like the light got brighter where you're at and now you can see more of the space.  Another way to tell that the Spirit is involved is when something seems to occupy your mind, it keeps coming back to you.  It generally means you need to do something, either someone needs you, you need to fix something in your life, or you need to pursue something in some way.  Joseph Smith described it as something that had been pressing upon his feelings the strongest.  There are many other ways but those two stood out to me as things I don't usually notice.

Thursday:

* I went to the temple on Wednesday and didn't really get much reading in.  But the temple was great nonetheless.   Today my thought is from section86 and is rather insignificant.  The Lord talks about the wheat and the tares and how you should not pull the tares yet because it may damage the wheat.  Then at the end when they are ripe to harvest the wheat and take care of the tares.  I've always thought of this as people, the Lord is waiting until all are ripe before harvesting.  However, today I thought of it in individuals.  When a new convert is baptized there are many things they don't understand and some that they believe incorrectly.  In fact that is actually the case for long time members as well.  If those converts were given all of the truth at the same time it would overwhelm, confuse, and possibly cause them to lose faith and hope.  The gospel has many layers and it is better to peel them off little at a time so that you can bear it.  In my own life when I've learned and experienced a truth, when it has grown strong, then I find I learn new truths that open my eyes to things I may not have understood and maybe even agreed with earlier in my life.  I was prepared bit by bit until I could understand it.

Friday:

*  I don't remember what I read this day.  I may come back and replace this if I go back and look.

Saturday:

* Our prophet President Nelson gave a nice talk the priesthood session.  I read it and my thought has nothing to do with his topic.  At the very beginning he talks about the pandemic and tells how much he loves us and then he says "I pray constantly that the Lord will comfort you."  That is a nice thought and even a comforting one.  However it made me think about my own prayers.  I often pray for something once and then go to work.  I don't like repeating myself over and over again, it seems redundant and maybe somewhat ungrateful and maybe selfish.  I still do it for things I'm really working on but prefer not to.  However the prophet says he is constantly praying for it.  He repeats himself over and over and he has as much faith and knowledge as anyone.  He obviously doesn't have a problem with it so maybe I will be including more things in my prayers that I might leave out just because I already asked for it.
