Amber - Extending the foundation time

I didn't do well enough last week so we are going to go for a third week.  However I'm adding a couple little goals and tweaking my evening routine.   1.  To the routine I'm setting two alarms.  The first will be a warning alarm to give me a chance to wrap up whatever I'm doing.  The second will be right at 9:30 and I have to immediately turn off all electronics.   2.  I've noticed a slow of productivity due to the amount of time I've spent on my phone and most of that is when I'm in my room.   Also if my phone is in the room when I go to sleep and when I wake then I get to sleep later and it distracts me during my morning routine.  So I'm banning my phone from my room.  I've tried this before and I sleep better and spend less time on it so I'm doing that again. 3.  I've gained a lot of weight over the last year and it's definitely affected me.  I have less energy, I've had more foot pain, I've had to replace my ...

Amber's Foundations Week 2

I'm halfway there.  First a review of the last week.  I've done super good on the scripture study so yay!  It has made a difference everyday.  My sleeping routine has become more of a habit.  Mornings are going great, my body wakes up at 6 on its own and if I'm not feeling sick then I'm getting up and doing that routine.  However evening has been a struggle.  I have the hardest time letting go and getting to bed.  I'm just not ready to be done having fun!  However I've learned that I have to keep my fun second to my schedule or I don't get anything done and I don't get sleep and I don't feel good when I get up.  So the good thing is that when I get to bedtime I'm almost always tired.  I've got to get this evening routine down. If I can do well on that this week then I will move on next week.  Otherwise I will go for week three of my foundations.  So on to this week. Monday: My thought today is from Alma 17.  In it it ...

Amber's foundations week 1

Ok I didn't find time to post yesterday's results so here they are today.  Also here is a quick reminder of what I'm aiming for these two weeks: 1-Better scripture study 2-Resetting my sleep schedule 3-Working on my sewing /craft projects Monday: Scripture thought is in Alma 13:10, 12-13.  I've always admired those in the scriptures who it said they looked upon sin with abhorrence.  Obviously that doesn't mean the sinners just the sins themselves.  I feel like I am tempted way to easily it doesn't seem that bad to me and I would love to be able to easily refuse to give in to a temptation because I could tell how bad it was for me and the people around me.  I would like to say "why in the world would I ever want to do that".  I do feel that way for some things, they just aren't a temptation for me, I would also like to feel that way for all the other sins.  So in the verses above it talks about one of the ways to achieve that state and it is...

Amber New Start : trying something different

Hi everyone, I'm back on my goals!  They have changed a little in fact I'm working on just a few at a time.  Step one is to get a good foundation.  My goals have failed in a large part to my tiredness so here are my goals I'm working on for the next two weeks. 1. Better Scripture study - for me this means I study until I get something worth sharing with someone.  I've decided to share here on the blog, however I'll just do a weekly post and update it everyday.  So if you want to see on my posts you can check the weekly post everyday or just at the end. 2. Reset my sleep schedule to wake at 6 am and sleep at 10 pm - To that end I have two routines which I have adjusted slightly from there former  shape.  The two most important parts to the morning are that when I wake instead of rolling over to say a prayer I get out of the bed, make it, dress, and then I say a prayer.  Then I go for a short walk.  No more lying in bed and wasting time o...

Starting Over!

I decided to start another 90 day journey and do it a little differently. Last time, I crashed and burned around day 50. All of my progress has been wiped away. I think last time I put too much pressure on myself and tried to do too much and I didn't really have a plan for pushing through when the motivation died off. Over the last few weeks I've been trying to be healthier and strengthen my testimony, but I've had a hard time with it. I'm working 3 days a weeks now due to COVID-19. So I'm thinking now is a good time to get myself back on track. I'm really struggling to find my motivation but I know that things need to be different right now. For my goals, I don't think I'm going to keep the same goals from week to week. I think I'll make new ones for some thing and then some will stay steady. The time period will be form 4/3/2020-7/2/2020. First week goals is what I'll start with (4/3-4/9). Spiritual -Pray daily -Family prayer -Scriptur...

Alyse's week 26-1

So I know its been awhile and I also know no one else I posting but I wanted to keep writing for my own sake. Anyways so I was really sick for awhile and I couldn't do anything, but I am mostly better and I've been able to get back to eating healthy and working out. Personally its a lot easier to eat healthy for me when I am away from home so It hasn't been to difficult. I haven't mediated AT ALL I completely forgot about it. And I got a really cheap membership to a gym here so I am going start running and doing some cardio weights.

Alyse's week 9-15

This week I did a bit of work, I didn't eat well, but I worked out a little more and I meditated much more 4 times! I ran 2 days as well, the last few months definitely haven't been easy and if you have been paying attention I haven't been perfect in ANY of my goals, but I'm starting to see some of the little things I do become habits and see some of the old bad habits go away is really exciting.
